The Cohen Law Group’s public sector practice group represents municipalities, counties, and state associations primarily in cable and telecommunications law. We assist our clients in (i) cable franchising and related services, including franchise negotiations with cable operators, franchise fee audits, cable compliance reviews, and franchise-related litigation; (ii) right-of-way management, including drafting right-of-way ordinances and ascertaining relevant costs to determine an appropriate fee schedule for companies occupying the rights-of-way; (iii) planning for and implementing broadband systems for communications by the government and the public; and (iv) advancing our clients’ interests before legislatures and other regulatory bodies.

Dan Cohen, founder of Cohen Law Group, heads up the firm’s public sector practice.  He has worked in the field of cable and telecommunications for over fifteen (15) years. He has represented hundreds of local governments, as well as telecommunications companies, both inside and outside of Pennsylvania.  He also serves as consultant to the Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities (PLCM), as well as other municipal associations.  You can see more of Mr. Cohen’s background in our Professionals section.

As an attorney representing local governments and as a former municipal official, Mr. Cohen is keenly aware of the practical needs and financial constraints facing local governments.  Consequently, we tailor our billing arrangements to best suit the needs of our clients.
