Dan Cohen
Dan Cohen, founder of the Cohen Law Group, has worked in the field of cable and telecommunications for over fifteen (15) years.  He has represented hundreds of local governments, as well as numerous telecommunications companies.  He is knowledgeable in cable and telecommunications law, and keeps apprised of the constant changes in the regulatory landscape affecting this industry.

Mr. Cohen is especially qualified to represent local governments, because he served as an elected official himself.  He served on the Pittsburgh City Council from 1990-2002.  During that time, he served as Chair of City Council’s Cable Television Committee for ten (10) years and worked on numerous right-of-way matters.  He was a principal negotiator of cable franchise renewal for the City of Pittsburgh with AT&T Broadband, now Comcast.  He also served on the Mayor’s Telecommunications Committee.

Mr. Cohen has written many articles on cable franchising and telecommunications matters, and is a frequent guest speaker at regional and national conferences.  Mr. Cohen is an active member of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) and is a consultant to the Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities (PLCM).  He graduated from Yale University and from Stanford Law School, where he served as Note Editor of the Stanford Law Review.  He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and three children.

 

Stacy Browdie
Stacy Browdie, associate of the Cohen Law Group, has been with the firm since its inception.  She represents clients primarily within the firm’s public sector practice. Ms. Browdie advises and represents municipalities in all aspects of cable and telecommunications matters, with a concentration in cable franchise agreements, franchise fee audits, cable compliance reviews, and right-of-way management.

Ms. Browdie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in 1987 and from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law with a J.D. in 1990.

 

 

Phil Fraga
Phil Fraga, principal of the Cohen Law Group, has a varied business and legal background involving publicly traded and privately held companies in various industries and has held positions with several professional service firms.  
Mr. Fraga most recently served as general counsel and a member of the senior management teams of two (2) telecommunications companies prior to joining the Cohen Law Group in January of 2006.  Mr. Fraga previously served in legal and business senior management roles with two (2) other telecommunications companies.

Beyond a lengthy track record of increasingly responsible and diverse positions throughout his career, Mr. Fraga brings a unique perspective as a former company co-founder and senior management team member who has helped start, grow and operate several start-up and early stage companies.  Mr. Fraga is involved with a number of Pittsburgh-based entrepreneurial organizations and is actively engaged in developing the firm’s private sector practice.  

Mr. Fraga has undergraduate degrees from Bethany College (finance) and Carlow College (accounting), an MBA from the University of Steubenville, and a law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law.  He lives in Imperial with his wife.

Catherine Beranty
Catherine, legal assistant of the Cohen Law Group, has been with the firm since its inception.  Her business administration background and legal education made her an integral part in starting the firm.  Ms. Beranty assists the attorneys at the firm in reviewing, revising and editing documents.  She also conducts limited research and assists clients under the supervision of the attorneys. She also is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, clerical and other administrative duties.

Ms. Beranty graduated with honors from The Bradford School with an A.S.B. in Paralegal Studies in 2001.
